i’ll find a way to slip into your skin.

from the moment you put down
the weight
of the couch you helped me carry
I noticed little sweat drops
escaping the subtle tangles
of your hair
running into
the shelter of your arms.

i was modestly jealous
how easily they could get
somewhere i’ve been craving
to go, all this long.

in that moment
i promised the foggy city sky
i’ll find a way
to slip into your skin somehow.

you’re stepping on the ground.

every day i come home
and find myself
trying to stare through
those black + white walls
hoping to rent some colors
and moving thoughts
however mindless
they might seem
it’s better than
standing together
with no wishes or dreams

and then your face
slowly walks over
into my eyes
their lies fade away
into the colored canvas
of a dusky sky

but soon as a blink
i breathe in
and your eyes are gone
leaving my smile
halfway along
the way
where wishes and dreams
stay

and i see a cracked
faint voice over my ears
lingering around
“hey, you need to
keep walking
you’re stepping on the ground.”

floored.

it wasn’t the first time

i got lost in her hair
but the wind paused
and the sky looked over
this time
looked over me to see
if i was doing fine
and i told him
i didn’t even see him
walking through the door
i never felt him
putting his foot down
on my carpeted floor
and no it’s not that
i don’t love him as much
as i did before
it’s just that my
existence was clouded by
her hair and i couldn’t help
but want more.

high and low.

five words that’s all you said
followed by five more
but never ever
you picked up your phone
and followed five more words
but nothing more

and now it’s late
in the dark
and the moon is nowhere
where it should be tonight
the black is taking over
the light
of your eyes

so darling
let’s not run away
to where we can’t make roads
you stay where you at
and i’ll be gone
soon as i get a little low.

one last light

i reach out to the stars
for the light to live on for a while
my fragments travel afar
spreading out west in 49 miles

i close my eyes some certain nights
and gaze at constellations I’ve made
with cluster of souls that fit just right
with mine, free and calmly laid

i walk up to each of them
and feel them growing in fire
when they cool down I pick up those gems
and move them above and higher

they glance to see how far they are
and thank the Lord about
the shine, the scars, their dimensions out far
I see them sailing out, and out

and now I crawl in my lonely sky
missing the light I found
all but one sang goodbyes
a spacial rose still hangs around

in this dusky sky of mine
amidst the dark of lights, their vain
i still have one star that flickers
the light that care still remains.

smile please.

i met them two
ladies, at 4th and Brannan.

their face had given up
on wrinkles.
their hair was warm as
the lord’s blessing
any given Sunday.
and colored as bright as
Lucifer’s face.
their bent back pointed
towards the future
of us.
all of us.

one of them had colored
dotted socks on.
maybe they matched.
or that was the trick?
the other one had the
sleight of the bluest southern skies.

they were both out
and about at an AM in the morning
when you’d still be regretting
the existence of your loneliness
or awkwardness of last night
in your dreams.

them?

i’ve never seen a smile so contagious.

Speck of dirt

who are we?
but a speck of dirt
in this universe.

believe me when
i tell you this.

breathing in the secrets
of galaxies and daydreams,
your eyes
resemble the constellations
lighting up the space.

but tonight,
you look a little
more beautiful than ever.

i don’t know
why.

aren’t we all
but a speck of dirt
in this universe?

All night

i stayed up all night
reading your poetry.

the earthly brew
and the old and
faithful few
gathered together in
the sky to
mystify your
existence, your every breath.

5 cups down,
and my eyes drown
in the sea of senseless
fear, and words
and blurred images.

i stayed up all night
reading your poetry
and i still don’t know what
you look like.
